Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
